Galloway National Park Association invited candidates to pledge their support to the next consultation phase
‘Agree that in the light of the widespread support for a Galloway National Park revealed in the public engagement exercises conducted by GNPA, and the Scottish Parliament’s unanimous call in October 2019 for the creation of more National Parks, Scottish Ministers should consult formally on a proposal for a Galloway National Park as set out in National Parks (Scotland) Act 2000 para 3 (1).’

A Galloway National Park has the overwhelming support of councillors across the region.
They agree that a National Park will make the most of our landscape, protect and enhance the environment, promote sustainable jobs and tourism, boost the economy and help with health and wellbeing.
In 2022 a clear majority of the newly elected members of Dumfries and Galloway Council offered their active personal backing to work for a National Park.
Our Vote Galloway National Park campaign received the support of the Conservatives, D&G Socialist Group, Greens, independents, Lib Dems, Scottish Labour and SNP.
Dumfries & Galloway, South Ayrshire and East Ayrshire Councils have all recently voted to confirm their support in principle for the Galloway bid.
